HAMMER, CHRISTY


Dr. Christy Hammer is a Social and Behavioral Studies professor at the University of Southern Maine.  Her work in the sociology of education includes a special focus on prejudice reduction, anti-racism, and gender-fair educational practices.  She has been particularly involved in working on the theory and practice of anti-racism in schools, modeling and presenting her creative strategies at numerous national and international conferences.  Having done significant work with the U.S. Department of Education, she has been recognized with two high honors for her anti-racism efforts -- the Bahai Award for the Unity of Mankind and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Award.


HATTINGH, LANETTE


Dr. Lanette Hattingh completed her B.SOS.Sc Nursing degree, and her Honours in Psychology at UOVS. She then started studying at RAU where she did a PGCE Degree and thereafter did her B.Ed and M.Ed and both of these she passed Cum Laude. She completed her D.Ed in 1991.
During her studies she received the Pieter van Zyl prize for the best student in the Faculty of Education. She also did a Certificate in Play Therapy and a Certificate in Creativity.

Dr. Hattingh has years of experience in various fields of study. In her career of 36 years she was involved in Nursing, Personnel Assistant, Trim Instructing, Public Relations, Psychometrics, Student Assistance, Lecturing and Internships.

In 1990 she opened her own Practice as a Psychologist which she is still doing today. She is the CEO of Brainwave Projects where she does many Career Orientation and Life Skills Projects. In the practise she specialises in learning problems, school readiness, study workshops and career and subject choices.

Dr. Hattingh forms part of 4 committees – The Health Professions Council of SA, Psychologists in Private Practice, Educational Psychologists and the University for Johannesburg Alumni Committee. Dr. Hattingh is involved at Helpmekaar and Abbotts College in Entrance Exams, Career Guidance, Study, Motivation and Tutoring. She has also made herself available for assistance to Masters and Doctoral Psychology students at UJ. She is a Motivational Speaker at many functions.

 


HODGES, KAREN


Karen is part of the vibrant team of the Kobus Neethling Group. She has been developing creative behaviour in children and young adults for the last 8 years. Her fun-filled creativity classes are well-known throughout Cape Town where she is based. In her classes she concentrates on building self-esteem and establishing creative confidence by designing classes to stimulate the whole brain. Karen also specialises in presentations which assist parents and teachers to develop creative behaviour in children. Four and a half years ago she decided to adopt a farm school in the Durbanville area as her community project and has been teaching children from disadvantaged backgrounds creative thought processes. Besides her involvement in the field of creativity, she is a financial manager for a successful quantity surveying practice.


HURSON, TIM

Tim is one of North America's pioneers of idea marketing. He has helped major organisations in the US, Canada and the UK create innovation, marketing, new product and workplace transformation programs. He has trained thousands of executives in improving their thinking skills and their ability to communicate their ideas. His keynote speeches on creative intelligence, perception and leadership are in demand throughout the world. He has written numerous articles on improving creative intelligence both in the workplace and at home. Tim is co-author of "thinkx", a productive thinking model and delivery system that helps organisations identify and develop their untapped thinking capacity.

Tim is a contributor to the most recent edition (1998) of Roger von Oech's A Whack on the Side of the Head. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, is Chair of the Board or Directors of the Responsible Gambling Council of Canada, Chair of the YMCA Employment and Community Services Advisory Council, member of the Governing Council of the YMCA of Metropolitan Toronto, member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (Toronto), and member of the Board of Trustees of the Creative Education Foundation (Hadley, MA). He is also a co-founder of a new non-profit, volunteer organisation, Facilitators Without Borders, whose mission is to assist communities in civic problem-solving and opportunity-finding.

 

 

 

JOUBERT, INA


Ina Joubert is a lecturer at the University of Pretoria. She lectures in the field of Early Childhood Education and specializes in Early Literacy and Children's Literature. One of her special interests is to facilitate literacy to young children in a creative way by using stories, fables and poetry. This strategy is especially successful with indigenous stories of Africa. This motivates children to create own reading materials in their own context. She is currently busy with a PhD project on citizenship education in South Africa, focusing on creative and interactive citizenship education for the young child.

 


LE STORTI, ANTHONY J

Anthony Le Storti is Executive Consultant for IDEATECTS® Inc., a firm specialising in creativity, leadership, and the dynamics of human systems. He founded and directed the Center for Creative Studies at Gwynedd-Mercy College and has taught graduate courses at La Salle University, Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania. He has an established reputation as a consultant, author and process leader, and has presented widely at major conferences and institutes. His clientele include Fortune 500 corporations as well as educational and nonprofit organisations. A former special warfare officer decorated for service in Vietnam, he holds degrees from La Salle and Temple Universities and has completed executive programs at Harvard Law School, JFK School of Government, and Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Creativity Association, a Colleague of the Creative Education Foundation and a recipient of that Foundation's Leadership Services and Commitment Award.



KLOPPER, MARILET

Marilet Klopper qualified as a Physiotherapist at the University of Pretoria in 2000. Her career put her on a winding road, working at different private hospitals, private practices as well as the Pretoria Central Prison. In 2002 she embarked on a 2 year journey to the United Kingdom, where she worked for the National Healthcare System and travelled intermittently to the European Continent. Subsequently, she entered the corporate world, as an Orthopedic Representative at a South African Bio-Engineering company, Southern Medical. Her involvement in sales, product research and development, client support in theatre and product training added new dimensions to her work experience interpersonal exposure. This chapter was followed by a return to her Physio roots, where she is currently specializing in Chronic Pain Management and patient guidance.
Her career path has taken her to contrasting work environments, varying disciplines of treatment and rehabilitation, exposure to corporate pressures and to people in many different levels of society. The common denominator, however, is her passion to add value to people’s lives, using a creative, holistic methods.
In her free time she enjoys being creative in the kitchen, sweating on a spinning bicycle or relaxing in the mountains with her husband, Hennie.
